Project Overview
  • Goal: Optimize a professional portfolio for search engines to ensure discoverability during a career transition.

  • Role: Digital Marketing Student & Strategist (The YF Studio).

  • Tools: SureRank, Google Search best practices.

 

The Challenge 

As I pivot from a laboratory background to digital marketing, my biggest challenge was learning to “think like a searcher.” Unlike the technical keywords I used in the lab, marketing keywords require a balance between technical accuracy and user intent. I had to learn the SEO system from scratch while simultaneously defining my new professional identity.

 

 

The Execution 
  • Keyword Selection: Identified core terms—such as Digital Marketing, SEO Strategy, and E-commerce Case Studies—ensuring they aligned naturally with the content of each specific page.

  • On-Page Optimization: Used the SureRank plugin to audit and implement Title Tags and Meta Descriptions for 5 core pages.

  • Technical Constraints: Managed character counts (under 60 for titles, under 160 for descriptions) to ensure the site looks professional and complete on Google search results.

  • User-Focused Messaging: Crafted descriptions that are easy for people to read while still containing the technical terms needed for search engines to categorize the site.

 

The Outcome
  • Search Readiness: The YF Studio is now technically optimized for indexing.

  • Skill Application: Successfully translated Google Certificate theory into a live, functional digital asset.

  • Foundation for Growth: This structure allows for future content expansion and performance tracking as I continue to develop my digital marketing skills.
